New Brand Video Hands To Myself

We first laid ears on Selena Gomez’s new track “Hands to Myself” back in October when Revival dropped, and but we finally saw a preview for the music video a few weeks ago during the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Selena had hinted that it was going to be her hottest video to date, and now that it’s officially out, we have to say, it's a revival beyond what anybody expected.

The video features Selena seriously owning the whole clip, with shots of model Christopher Mason peppered in for good measure (look away, Niall). Though she’s been pretty transparent about struggling with body image, she looks amazing, and it’s not just her styling that’s making her shine — it’s the confidence she is so clearly embodying.

There's even a funny twist to the video, as Selena opens in handcuffs and you think something racy is about to go down. It does, but mostly in her own head — it turns out the handcuffs are far more LAPD than fantasy.

And while some fans might be shocked to see Selena continue to explore more mature themes, it's important to remember that the singer is 23 years old. She's growing up, and exploring what being a woman means to her. (We're not sure that being a woman necessarily means breaking into someone's house, but hey, to each their own.) When she starred in Spring Breakers, a racy movie about a vacation gone mad, she famously said she didn't want younger fans to see it because it wasn't appropriate for them. She can and should be able to make decisions as an artist that fuel her own creativity without being penalized as a role model.

Revival isn't a move to abandon her original Selenators — Sel would never do that — but there are more mature themes on it that appeal to the audience that has grown up with her. It would be naive to expect a song that literally says “I can't keep my hands to myself” to not play into a romantic encounter. The video for “Good For You” was, according to her, a celebration of being a woman outside of the male gaze, and it's important to note that in “Hands To Myself," any touching between her and Christopher exists only within her own head. He's not really a love interest at all, but rather a figment of a fan's imagination. She may be in the back of a cop car, but when it comes to the object of affection in the video itself, she's the one in control.

She’s making one thing very, very clear:she is moving on from that “same old love.” This is her moment, she’s ready, she’s coming to get it, and we are totally going along for the ride.

The Lyric here...

Can't keep my hands to myself

No matter how hard I'm trying to

I want you all to myself

You're metaphorical gin and juice

So come on, give me a taste

Of what it's like to be next to you

Won't let one drop go to waste

You're metaphorical gin and juice

Cause all of the doubts and the outbursts

Keep making love to each other

And I'm trying, trying, I'm trying, trying

All of the doubts and the outbursts

Keep making love to each other

And I'm trying, trying, I'm trying, but I

Can't keep my hands to myself

My hands to myself

Can't keep my hands to myself

My hands to myself

My doctor say you're no good

But people say what they wanna say

And you should know if I could

I'd breathe you in every single day

All of the doubts and the outbursts

Keep making love to each other

And I'm trying, trying, I'm trying, trying

All of the doubts and the outbursts

Keep making love to each other

And I'm trying, trying, I'm trying, but I

Can't keep my hands to myself

My hands to myself

Can't keep my hands to myself

My hands to myself

Can't keep my hands to myself

I want it all, no, nothing else

Can't keep my hands to myself

Give me your all and nothing else

Oh, I, I want it all

I want it all, I want it all

Can't keep my hands to myself

I mean I could, but why would I want to?

My hands to myself

Can't keep my hands to myself

My hands to myself

Can't keep my hands to myself

I want it all, no, nothing else

Can't keep my hands to myself

Give me your all and nothing else

Can't keep my hands to myself
